The German-speaking Community of Belgium is responsible for the organization and management of education in its territory, including kindergarten, primary and secondary education. It sets the pedagogical guidelines, organizes school operations and manages the teaching staff centrally via the Ministry of Education and Teaching Organization. Some special regulations such as the start of compulsory schooling, school-leaving qualifications and pension regulations remain with the federal state.
